Quosal Consulting & Customization

Quosal (now Quosal Create) is an amazing tool.

At RiteTech, we have been using Quosal for almost 2 years. In addition to being a great tool, Quosal has become part of our company lexicon, from "create a Quosal form me" to "can you Quosalize this?"

But in addition to creating quotes in Quosal, we have been able to utilize the tool to create full proposals, upwards to 20 pages and more. Using custom fields, modifying the report outputs and making use of Quosal Scripting, RiteTech has had the ability to create rich, dynamic quotes and proposals for our customers.

Page Types

RiteTech is able to create the following types of pages within each quote or proposal:

  • Cover Page
  • Cover Letter (displays before the pricing summary)
  • Pricing Summary
  • Text Only - pages that display no items or pricing. Typically used for explanations or descriptions.
  • Standard Pricing - page that displays items in a table with a quantity, item price, item total and page total at the bottom. Standard page to quote set number products or labor.
  • Item Listing - No Totals - page that displays items in a table without a quantity - only a price per item. Typically used to display prices for items without a set quantity, such as hourly labor rates and trip charge prices.
    • This type of page can be customized to either show or hide product images

Price Ranges

One limitation with Quosal that was an obstacle for RiteTech was the inability to create quotes with a range of prices. Many of our projects are based on estimated numbers of hours, such as 2-4 hours to setup a new PC. Using Quosal out of the box (so to speak) meant that we could put the estimates in the comments, but had to select a set number of hours to quote, thus making the estimates difficult for potential clients to follow.

Using a combination of custom fields and Quosal Scripting, RiteTech has created the ability to create quotes and proposals with quantity ranges for items. These ranges display for the particular line item, carry down to the page total and display on the Pricing Summary, if that tab is displayed in the totals.
